RotoMetrics® and DuPont™ Tyvek® Demonstrate Trouble-Free Die Cutting of Tyvek® Brillion®

WILMINGTON, Del., March 30, 2001 - RotoMetrics® recently completed die cutting test runs using Tyvek® Brillion® that showed RotoMetrics® die cutting technology as one of the best solutions for both unsupported and pressure sensitive substrate processing.

"We, and many of our customers, have run Tyvek® successfully for many years. Therefore, we only tested Tyvek® Brillion®, which is a fairly new addition to the Tyvek® product line," said Steve Lee, vice president/director of technical support for RotoMetrics®. "Both Tyvek® and Tyvek® Brillion® can be successfully converted. It's a matter of precision tooling that includes a die station in good working order with pressure gauges, bearer wipers, lubrication and a smooth anvil roll to provide optimal results."

"Customers should not assume they will encounter added processing difficulties when they choose synthetic substrates," said Jack Collison, DuPont™ Tyvek® technical specialist. "Proper equipment and processing techniques are the keys to smooth die cutting operations with highly repeatable die cutting cycles that yield exacting results with minimal downtime."

Tyvek® brand protective material is selected for synthetic substrate applications because it is tough yet soft, lightweight and highly printable. It resists water, most chemicals, extreme temperatures and rough handling but can be stitched, perforated, die cut and coated.

"Customers choose Tyvek® and Tyvek® Brillion® when they need to protect critical information. It's unique combination of benefits make it ideal for applications that range from compliance labels and steel tags to race numbers and wrist tickets," Collison said.

The innovative applications made possible by all grades of Tyvek® continually generate new die cutting requirements that RotoMetrics® handles successfully for converting and printing companies throughout the world. "When cutting Tyvek® and Tyvekâ Brillion® metal-to-metal in unsupported form, RotoMetrics® MU100 (EDM) die is the best solution," said Lee. "When cutting Tyvek® pressure sensitive to a liner, it is possible to use a broad selection of RotoMetrics® dies." The company provides industry leading technical support and customer service for their line of high-quality rotary and flexible dies, print cylinders and other related tooling.

RotoMetrics® is one of the world's leading manufacturers of precision die cutting technology.
